Wulfgard F.A.Q.

What is Wulfgard?
Wulfgard is a medieval-fantasy world by Arkanian Creations. It is a low-magic setting based heavily on a combination of cultures and mythologies, with a history that largely runs parallel with the history of the ancient and medieval worlds.

Within the universe, the word refers to the an ancient name for the realm of mortals. It was used during the days of the Shifters, a race that could transform between man, beast, and beast-man at will. Since the strongest force in this age was the packs of wolf-shifters who roamed the land, the shifters called their realm Wulfgard ("wolf land"). Today that name is all but forgotten, and various cultures of men have their own names for the moral realm

Who are Arkanian Creations?
Currently, Arkanian Creations consists of three siblings:

Justin R. "Saber-Scorpion" Stebbins
Ryan C. Stebbins (Rycast)
Maegan "MaverickWerewolf" Stebbins

For now, Arkanian Creations is merely the name we invented to refer to ourselves as a group.

What's up with the name?
In ye olden times, "wulf" meant male wolf and "wylf" female. We originally named the setting Wylfgard because the .com URL was available. Then we noticed people kept pronouncing it "wilfgard" and didn't like the way it sounded. So we changed it to Wulfgard and stuck with the .net domain name. The old domains redirect here.
The word "Gard" on the other hand means "enclosure" or "land." It's the root of the modern word "garden." In Norse, Germanic, and Anglo-Saxon myth, Midgard was the land of men. It means "middle earth." There's a good reason that sounds familiar. In Wulfgard, "Midgard" is the name used by Northmen for the mortal realm.
